Operation Neptune Spear are a one piece melodic, political, groove, rock band forged in the bowels of deepest darkest South Yorkshire, England (Sheffield to be precise) formed in April 2015. To date Operation Neptune Spear have released a self-produced album and two EP’s (World on Fire, 1984 and Beautiful Lives) which can be downloaded free via SoundCloud. Our sound has been described as the love child of Rage against the Machine, Motorhead and Led Zeppelin on speed.
Operation Neptune Spear is a clash of the musical genre titans Metal and Punk. It has in your face lyrics that speak their truth filled with dynamic and gritty guitars. What really sets them apart from many artists is Operation Neptune Spear is a one man band so to speak, and with the EP 1984, you would have no idea that it was only one man creating such passionate music.
1984 is the archetypal song for the Punk Rock genre. It makes you want to rise up against the establishment and take control of your life. The song has a corruptive quality about it that gets into your soul and takes over. The vocal style, has that tough and subtle growl to it that you would expect from the more aggressive genres but is also very distinct that sets him apart from other singers. The guitars are the perfect enhancer to the song with nice riffs and change ups to keep you on your toes.
However, if you are looking for something a little hardcore and Metal then Will of the People is the song for you. The ferocity and stamina of the guitar is outstanding, you really get captivated by it throughout the song. But it’s not outshining the vocals or drums, it is more the heartbeat of the song while the vocals and drums are the body. They elevate each other to create a well executed song.
Land of the Free is yet another adrenaline packed song filled with the extreme energy you come to know from Operation Neptune Spear. By the end of the song you are singing along with it while either unleashing your inhibitions to start your own personal mosh pit or slam dance around your office. Because once the energy gets inside you, you need to release it somehow and that is exactly what it inspires your body to do. Or if you follow the lead of the lyrics, you go out to the streets and start voicing your opinions on how the world needs to change and what should be done. Starting your own march towards challenging the status quo.
Overall, the EP 1984 is musical chaos in superb fashion. It is music that empowers you to change the way the world is, take a stand for your rights, and to let go of your inhibitions.
