Melodic Thrash Death Metal from Monterrey
"Project formerly known as “Unless I” was born in Monterrey, Mexico in February, 2014. The concept was created by Damian Ymirson and Fernrizsun while drowning in a sea of beer and chatter. “Unless I” was later developed entirely by Fenrizsun, who takes ownership of it afterwards. Sooner than later, Daniel "Waste" Chapa jumps in the scene with new ideas inflamed with
melodic tendencies, and we decided to name ourselves “The Architect Of Nightmares” , with irreligious and anti institutionalism themed lyrics. Pepe "Turtle" and Adolfo Sanz joined later to complete the band lineup as we know it. The demo “No God To Blame” was released on Aug 26, 2016. “Consummating Divinity" will be soon released as the first long play album"
If you are looking for adrenaline pumping, head banging, mix of old school metal with the modern edge, look no further than The Architect of Nightmares. They will be releasing their album Consummating Divinity soon, and I was honored to get to review it now. Which I would like to take a moment and thank the guys for that and the album is absolutely savage!
The featured song for the review is called Malevolent Memento which you can listen to below. Damian Ymirson commands at the vocals, not only with the growl but also the clean vocals which remind me a little of Bruce Dickinson, but with his own iconic flair. While Damian has a bit of the old school metal sound with his voice, the song itself has a rhythm that reminds me of newer metal bands like Avenged Sevenfold.
Malevolent Memento by The Architect of Nightmares
My personal favorite of the album is called Witch Hunt which they recently played live at Raza Rock. The bridge is what pushes this song into the realm of musical perfection in my opinion. The way Damian transitions from the snarl of the Death Metal vocal style to the enchanting operatic vocal style speaks volumes of his range. Of course the vocals are not the only thing that make this band outstanding in my opinion, everyone knows that you need to have the rhythms and melody spot on with the guitar and drums in order for the music to truly soar. Between the savage guitar solos and rhythm of Damian, Daniel Chapa (Guitar), and Adolfo Sanz (Bass), and the epic drum fills by Pepe Rodriguez, you get the thrash metal experience that leaves you yearning for more.
I can honestly say that this album from The Architect of Nightmares is a must have for all metalheads. The stamina of the album is unlike most bands you hear nowadays. As well as they have my utmost respect for giving a wink and a nod to the old school ways. The vocals that you can get into, the guitar that you can air guitar to (you know you want to), and the drum fills that make you head bang or mosh, whichever you prefer. Regardless I look forward to many more albums from the guys and hope everyone enjoys the music as much as I have. And when the album is released, please make sure to buy your own copy because this music will never go out of style and should be in everyone's music library.
